Wyoming KS - Views The Relatives and the Windy City...
The first time I saw my cousin K, I knew I would like her. We didn't even have to say anything to each other, it was just one of those strange psychological things. I'm glad that I was right when it came to K, because I would seriously be missing out otherwise. She's one of those people who can light up a room with her smile, she's always so happy, and she's always having fun, no matter what she's doing!
There's something about her that you can't help but like! She's had a wonderful influence on a lot of people, and I'm proud to say that I'm one of them.
One of the first things I noticed about K is that she LOVES Chicago! I don't think I've ever heard her say anything bad about the city (well, I don't think she likes the traffic that much, and she has a wee bit of road rage about that). I think the thing that K loves most about Chicago is the Cubs. And who can blame her? I've only been to two Cubs games, and it was K who took me to see them, talk about fun!
The last game we went to, good ol' Sammy Sosa hit a ball out of the park! It was awesome! And even though the Cubs didn't win, I didn't care, just being at Wrigley Field and watching the Cubs play was good enough for me!
I think the very best thing about K is that she cares about, and loves, other people. I've never seen an Aunt love their nephew as much as K loves R, it seems to me like she's practically his second Mom, and I know that K is positively smitten with that! Not that it's hard to like R, he's a lot like K, one of those people you just can't help liking, even when he has you pinned to the floor and is tickling you so hard you think you're going to cry, or when he breaks K's fan during a pillow fight and then tries to blame you for it.
She's also wonderful to her other nephews (S and E) and her niece (M) I don't think a day goes by where she doesn't see one, if not all, of them!
K
also loves her mother, and her sister,
which is VERY obvious. Sure, K may get frustrated trying to introduce
Auntie B into the modern world, but Auntie B is always a good sport about it,
and at least she tries! And J cracks me up, she loves her kids to death, and she
still knows how to have fun... with or without M and E. When you get K and J
together, you know there's no stopping the two of them! I'm starting to
think that there's a certain magnetism about this family, they all know how to
have fun, they're all happy people, and they all care about other people! I'm
going to give Kudos to Auntie B, without her craziness and good, fun lovin, the
world of the S Clan would not be the same!
Whenever I tell my friends that I'm going to go to college in Chicago, they look
at me as if I had lost my mind. "Why would you want to go there?" a
friend of mine asked me, "You wanna be shot at or something?"
None
of my friends have ever been to Chicago (well, a couple of them have been to an
airport there, but they've never actually seen the city) so I can't expect them
to understand. When small-town folk think of all the gangs that used to be in Chicago, like the Al Capone gangster
who went in and shot up a whole bunch of people on Valentines Day in the 1930s
or 40s, they don't realize that Al is dead and that Chicago isn't like that
anymore. I have to admit, even I was a little scared when R walked me from
his house to K's. He kept on going through alleys and stuff, I thought for sure
that he was going to get me killed. He laughed at me later, and explained that
Chicago really wasn't that bad. People don't hide behind dumpsters waiting for
innocent people just for the sake of killing them... well, at least not in
Wrigleyville!
The other thing that I love about Chicago is that I have family there.
I've never wanted to go to college in Wyoming, and I've always planned on going
to a big city, which would actually scare the pants off me since I'd be going
from a town with 510 people, to a city with 5,000,000 people. YIKES! But in
Chicago, there'd always be someone there for me, and that's awesome! And then,
of course, there's also relatives in the surrounding areas. Aunt
K and Uncle A only live a short drive away (and like
Auntie B, even as they grow older, they're still a hoot to be with!) Then Little
K and her family only live a little ways away, and I know that I'll have an
absolute blast with these people. I mean, if I can have the time of my
life in a week, imagine the possibilities when I spend a year with them! And I
have to admit, I can't wait to play the part of an older cousin! I don't really
have any relatives that live close to me, and even the relatives I do have are
all older than me. I cannot wait to take C and M out shopping and doing
"girly things". Then on the other hand, I can't wait to spend
time with T, E, and S playing games, showing them tricks, and eventually giving
them advice on girls. The future looks great.
So, basically, I love everything about Chicago. From the family members, to the
friends that are practically family members (like JS and EHB and LR), to
baseball games (Go CUBS!), and then, the food (nothing better than Bubba Gumps!)
However, there's one thing that I don't like about Chicago.
They claim that it's the "Windy City" well, I beg to differ, all the times that I've been there, it was never that windy. I say that whoever named it that needs to come to Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Now that's a windy city!
