Trash TV…

I was home sick the other day.  As I lay in my bed flipping channels endlessly, cursing the lack of good television, a teaser for the Maury Povich and Jenny Jones show aired.   Today’s lineups were…

Maury    “Out of control – Sex Starved teens”.

Jenny    “Who’s the Daddy?”

With titles like these are you as amazed as I that these shows are still on the air?

I want to address the Maury episode first.  This was the most horrible display I’ve ever seen.  5 girls – ranging in age from 10 to 14 that came out and explained how they needed sex, CRAVED it.  One by one, a parent or guardian would come out and talk about how they started acting up, then suddenly, they were sleeping with men.  Men, not boys.   Some as old as 35, NONE as young as girls themselves.  One of the girls – 10 years old - was living with her older sister.  The sister came out and talked about how no one could control her, so she took her in.  She was on the show now because her sister had slept with 2 of her boyfriends and she wanted a stop put to it.  SHE WAS 10!!!

The ads soliciting more stories were JUST as appalling.

"Are you a mother and daughter team that dresses too sexy for your town?"  Call the Maury show.

"Do you know a large breasted woman that dresses too sexy for her size?Call Jenny.

"Are you a transsexual midget that likes to wear dog collars and a velvet southern flag while tap dancing to Elvis tunes?"  Call Jerry.

How is it possible that these shows exist?  How can ANYONE in good conscience be on them?  Why would anyone want to display their horrible, tragedy filled lives on national TV? How do these stars and producers look in the mirror every day?

I heard that a while ago a comedy troop located in Chicago, infiltrated the Jerry show and duped the producers into thinking that they were indeed the white trash they portrayed.  It later came out that they were instructed to be even MORE over the top than they were acting.  They wanted ratings.

It’s no wonder that ‘sex craving’ girls are showing up on these shows.  They watch others and think it’s cool.

Society needs to do something about it.

Let’s not place bets on the “Pretend Boot Camps” their sending these kids too.

I think we’d find a better solution by shutting off the television and getting these ridiculous shows cancelled.
