American Princess sounds off…

Before I left for vacation, I did the girl thing…I went and had a manicure, pedicure and wax.

I have been going to the same place for almost 2 years and I can say with a certainty that the service is not getting better with longevity.  Not only do they make me wait an ungodly length of time, EVEN though I have an appointment, within days, my nails are chipping.

But is it the service or the polish???

I typically wear only 3 shades of color on my nails, red, darker red, and fire engine red.   What can I say – red is my color.

I spend quite a bit of money on polish.  I buy into that whole crap bag of long lasting - no chip garbage that manufacturers spit out at us. I buy them.  They usually chip within days.

I used to have the ‘artificial’ kind of nails years ago.  For you non-nail types, that’s when they apply artificial tips to your own nails and then place an acrylic bond over that.  Your own nails grow out underneath and eventually the tips come off and as long as you continue applying the acrylic bond every 2 weeks (called a fill-in) – your nails will last beyond this lifetime.  Oh, and they always look amazing.

After almost 2 years of having the artificial nails, I decided to remove the acrylic and see how my ‘real’ nails would do.  Well, they didn’t.  It took almost 9 months before my nails even became strong enough that they didn’t peel or break on a feather touch.

They’re completely normal again, and attempt to grow. However, because of my active lifestyle, they’ll never be as long as they were when they were fake, they’re simply not strong enough.  They get to a certain point and that’s it – which is fine.

So here I am - only 1 day into the new polish and it started to chip.  1 day!!

Now to those of you who don't understand, that's insane!

Methinks I'm going to have to find a new salon.

Or buy yet another bottle that promises me it won't fade or chip.

Methinks I'm screwed either way.
