Oh Sleepy Time - Green Style…OR how I spent St. Pat's Day Party - 2003

The Fifth Annual St. Pat’s Day party has come and gone.  And ohhhhh, what a time we had.

The trouble began very early in the afternoon when my helpers came to help. I started mixing a batch of Kamikaze’s and we all decided to try one.  Typically, these are served as shots, however, my helpers and I felt that we should pour them into rock glasses and drink them as such.

At 2 p.m. when 2 of my helpers, JS & CC {my BFF’s} and I went for the ice and wine, we were well on our way.

As CC and I came home, we decided it would be ok to partake of the 6-pack of McEwan’s Scottish Ale we’d just purchased.  1 ˝ hours later, after all was gone, we started on the Tetley’s English Ale.   Once that was finished, it was time for the party.

People came and went.   Shots were consumed.  Many, many pints were poured.

I remember everything.   Some very well, some a wee fuzzy.

I do remember saying to a group of people that if they did a shot, CC and I would do 2.  CC looked at me like I was crazy for all of about a second and then said, “OK”.   That’s why she’s my new BFF.

In a more fuzzy time, I was told that I ran into the living room, arms all a flutter, assuring everyone that M was going for more Triple Sec for the Kamikaze’s.   Pheww….everyone was relieved, especially me.

A bit later, we ran out of shot glasses.  Then we ran out of plastic rock glasses.  We improvised and simply drank the shots straight from the bottles.

Shortly before midnight, I began to fade.   When I started to tell A that I couldn’t feel my legs, it was time to retire.  Being another of my BFF’s, she simply hugged me and put me to bed, standing guard outside my door. Every now and again, she’d come in and check on me and smooth out my hair and kiss my forehead.  God, I am lucky to have friends like that.

I must say aloud that this was one of the maybe 5 times in my life I've ever gotten out of hand.  I can promise you I won't do that to such excess again.

All in all it was another successful party.  Next year - I promise - NO 2 for 1 shots!
