Training Session #2  - Thursday, May 23, 2002

I’ve learned the reason why PT’s work out with mirrors surrounding them.  It’s so that they can see you struggle from EVERY POSSIBLE ANGLE!!!!  Today was my 2nd session with A.

We did the Stair Climbing Machine again.  This time for 4 minutes.  It was better than last time.  I only got tired at the 3 minute 40 second mark.  Wow, I’m certainly on my merry fitness way.

We walked over to the weight machines. We started with one of the chest machines.  He explained how to do it and then I followed suit.  No problem.  We did a quick row machine for a few minutes, again – no problem.  The only thing I can't figure out is how to squeeze my shoulder blades together.

We went to the punching bag.  He got a 7lb medicine ball and asked me to swing up from my feet, pivot and punch the bag with the ball.  I hit the bag.  He laughed.  “C’mon Fiz, you can do better than that!”  I punched it again.  “What was that? Let’s go, HIT IT!  Think of someone who pisses you off”!!  I immediately thought of Curly and how completely INSANE he is.  I used all my might and swung up.  I think I grunted as I hit it.  This time he was happy.  “Good, now 13 more just like that.”  Oh my GOD!!  I LOVE THAT ONE!! I laughed and told him not to get us Yuppie WASPS mad, cause we could be pretty darn tough when we wanted.

Then we walked over towards the mirrors.  He got another ball.  This time we did ball balancing the same as before, with the same resistance exercises with just a few changes, mostly just increasing the reps. We did the walk down and butt & hip lifts and the crunches, this time alternating them, also doing more reps. It was surprisingly OK…I think I’m getting the hang of this madness.   Then he got another ball, a much smaller one and told me to do butt & hip lifts while squeezing the ball in between my legs.  OUCH...that smarts! Me no likey that one!!

On to stretching, this time was still as strange - I just kept thinking that here's V's brother practically laying on top of me as I sweat and stretch.  It's very unusual!  Away I go...until my tormentor and I meet again!
