The heat is bad. It's 90 plus in Chicago and sweltering. It's 100 plus in that gym. If I thought Friday was a bad sweat day - today was worse. I could NOT stop mopping my forehead.
We started on the stair for 4. Although this time, I was huffing big time. Maybe it's the heat.
Moved over to a new machine for shoulders. Did 3 sets, 15, 12, 10 and was fine with it.
Then to my favorite leg presses. Added a bit of weight, now I'm up to 100lbs - so 15 together, 15 separate, 12 separate, 10 separate. Then did some calve work, 15 & 15. A told me I'm doing so great on this, next time more weight! Yikes! I told him I was only doing it to impress him, so he should take it easy. He shrugged. I know next time, there'll be more weight and I'll suck at it.
Moved on to a row weight machine - I sit on the stability ball and row in different angles. Not too bad.
Next was leg extensions, 15 together, 15 separate, 12 separate, 10 separate. This one is getting way easier and it feels better on my thigh muscles. A taught me that the weight isn't as important as tightening the muscles as you lift up as well as going super slow. That makes my legs shake though - which is odd to look at. It also makes the muscles burn. A says that's good. He's the boss, so I'll believe him.
As always, he HAS to make me do something weird. I'm still trying to think up a name for this latest one - but in a nutshell - here's what I did - he had me move down the stability ball, as if I were doing my normal hip and butt thrusts, BUT, as my butt was lifted in the air, while my ass cheeks are tight, I was to hold onto his forearm with both hands, as I lifted one leg and did leg lifts. Sounds weird right? Well it is. I was hanging onto his arm for dear life - making his muscles bulge out. I was sure I was going to pull him over! He held on and didn't let me fall and I managed to do all the reps. YUCK - this is another for the category - ME NO LIKEY!
Then onto our normal resistance cords and ab work. Then stretching and wa-la it's over.
I wish I had more money so I could see him 3 or 4 times a week. I always feel so good when I leave him, and I hate that it's over so quick. I think mostly what I like is that I have company during my torture. We talk and joke around, and it makes it so much easier to workout. I actually look forward to my sessions with a desire that I've never in a million years thought I'd feel for exercise.
4 more days until I get my torture again...
